Weimaraners are very people-oriented dogs and need to be with their family. Noble patrons at the court of Weimar developed this breed. One of the distinctive features in Weims is their dominant nature. They have a strong predisposition toward guarding and defending their family. Weimaraners are versatile and intelligent, affectionate and steady in behavior.

The "Gray Ghost" is extremely devoted to their family. They are unsurpassed playmates and companions for older active children. If a Weimaraner as a puppy was growing together with other pets, there should not be any serious problems connected with their coexistence and interaction. However, in most cases, the Weimaraner owners agree to the point that Weims are quite dangerous neighbors for cats and babies. Because of their size and high activity level, Weimaraners should be constantly supervised when playing with children.
